Alpha Labori è sull'orlo dell'estinzione.
L'unica speranza è un droide manutentore, Sparky, e il suo compagno, Shortz. Shortz è un robot salvavita, ma è in gravi difficoltà. Prima di avere una possibilità di aiutare a ripopolare il pianeta, Sparky deve rimettere Shortz in condizioni di funzionare.
